Charlotte's Web by E. B. White is a classic story and a Newbery Honor Award Winner. Best for kids ages 8 to 12, this is the story of a spider named Charlotte and a pig named Wilbur who live on a farm. Wilbur is born the runt of the litter and, after being saved by a little girl named Fern, learns about friendship and the cycle of life on a farm.

Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer is by Kelly Jones and is recommended for kids ages 8 to 12. A girl moves from the city to a farm her family has inherited and as she adjusts to her new life and learns how to take care of the chickens, she discovers that they have very unusual abilities.

Hank the Cowdog is a 77-book series by John R. Erickson best for kids ages 7 to 10. Hank the Cowdog lives on a ranch with his humans and serves as head of security, where he solves mysteries and protects the animals on the ranch. Each book is a standalone story narrated by Hank, who often has a unique perspective on what his humans are doing.

Tractors and Farm Machinery, by M. Kaye David, is in the STEAM Bookworks series. Kids ages 2 to 5 can learn all about tractors and other equipment with photos, and vocabulary words, and learn STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) concepts.

National Geographic Readers: Farm Animals is a level 1 co-reader by Joanne Mattern. This book is geared toward early readers. It introduces plants and animals with easy sections for kids to practice and more detailed parts for adults to read aloud.

How Did That Get in My Lunchbox?: The Story of Food is by Chris Butterworth. This cutely illustrated book for ages 4 to 8 includes information on how food is made in a kid-friendly way. It includes dairy, bread, and produce but not meat.
