What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect information from you when you buy a product from us, subscribe to our email list, or leave a comment on our website. As appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name or e-mail address.

We use this information to respond to questions and comments, process transactions, and (if you have opted in) send periodic emails.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Gumroad

If a user opts-in to receive the email newsletter or purchase a product in our Gumroad shop, you are subject to Gumroad’s Privacy Policy.

Email uses a tracking pixel to determine what percentage of emails are delivered and opened, and which links are clicked. Purchasing a product will associate your email address with that product so that you can receive updates about it.

You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of the email or updating your Gumroad account preferences.

Analytics

Backyard Summer Camp uses Google Analytics to track user behavior.

Log files merely log visitors to the site – usually a standard procedure for hosting companies and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information inside the log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and the number of clicks. This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.

Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products, and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.

Personal data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you have left comments, you can request that we erase them.

Sales data is retained indefinitely for legal purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.

How we protect your data

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of this website. After a transaction in our Gumroad shop, your private information (credit cards, etc.) is not made available to us and is handled entirely by Gumroad.
