Friendship bracelets are a classic summer camp craft! Learn how to make this simple flower pattern that you can create over and over. Add a few flowers to any friendship bracelet, or make a whole chain of them in any color.
For this bracelet, we used cotton cord for the flower section so it wouldn’t move. Then we added an elastic section to the back so it’s easy to put on and take off without tying.

How to make a flower bead bracelet
Supplies
- pastel pony beads
- white cotton bead cord
- white elastic bead cord
- scissors
Instructions
1. Weave the flower bead pattern.
Start by laying out the bead pattern on a flat surface. This makes it easier to thread them in the right order. For each flower, the pattern is:
- 1 green
- 2 color
- 1 color, 1 yellow, 1 color
- 2 color
- 1 green
Cut a length of cotton cord approximately 10 inches long. Thread a green bead onto the center. Weave both cords through each row from opposite directions.

Repeat the flower pattern 3 times. We made each flower a different color, but you can make them the same or different. When you get to the end, tie a secure knot.

2. Add the elastic section.
To make the elastic section, cut a piece of elastic cord about 10 inches long. Thread it through one end of the flower beads, then add 8 more green beads over both ends. Test to make sure the bracelet will fit around your wrist and add more green beads if necessary.

3. Tie the ends.
Finally, thread the elastic ends through the other end of the flower section and tie it securely. Trim ends close to the knots.

The elastic will stretch for the bracelet to slide over your hand, but the flower section of the beads won’t move. This makes it easy to put the bracelet on and take it off without tying knots!
