Paper Bag Tyrannosaurus Craft

Use craft paper to turn a paper bag into one of the most ferocious prehistoric hunters with this easy tyrannosaurus craft.

Tyrannosaurus rex, commonly called T-rex, lived over 65 million years ago in North America. It was one of the largest carnivores to roam the earth and well-known for its big mouth full of sharp teeth.

Kids have adored the T-rex, even before its movie popularity. Make a tyrannosaurus craft with your child for a fun and easy paper puppet.

Tyrannosaurus craft tips

• We don’t know exactly what colors the T-rex was, so make it any color you like! We made ours yellow and green.
• Classic school glue is perfect for paper crafts but takes a few minutes to dry. If you’re crafting with an impatient toddler, a glue stick or glue dots will dry faster.
• No wiggly eyes in your craft stash? Just draw them with crayons.
• We made a template so you can easily draw out the dinosaur pieces, but they’re simple shapes you can draw by hand too.

How to make a paper bag tyrannosaurus

Supplies

• paper bag
• craft paper
• scissors
• glue
• wiggly eyes
• crayons

Instructions

1. Cut out the paper pieces.

Print the template or draw the dinosaur parts onto craft paper. You can use any color.

You’ll need:

• 2 circles larger than the wiggly eyes.
• A trapezoid (a triangle with the top cut off) for the nose.
• A rectangle for the teeth, cut in half with a zig-zag.
• A long triangle for the tail.
• 2 rectangles with a triangle cut from one end for the arms.

2. Glue the green pieces.

After you have all the dinosaur pieces cut, glue them to the paper bag. The face goes on the bottom of the paper bag. Add wiggly eyes over the green eye sockets. Don’t forget to add the tail to the back. Let the glue dry for a few minutes.

3. Attach the teeth to the seams.

Glue one set of teeth to the inside of the folded seam under the nose. Line up the other teeth on the bag and glue them down. They should line up when the mouth opens and closes. Let the glue dry for a few minutes.

4. Add finishing details.

Grab a black crayon and draw a pair of nostrils on the nose. You can add other details with crayons if you like.

Bend the teeth so that the top row angles down and the bottom row angles up. On the back, crease the tail down the middle so it sticks out.
