Spiders are pretty amazing creatures. They spin creative and elaborate webs in just the right places to catch their dinner.
Kids of all ages can learn how to draw a spider web. All you need is a pencil and paper. You can dress up your spider web drawing with your favorite art supplies too, if you’d like.
Beginner drawing tips
- All you need to start drawing are something to draw with and something to draw on. You can use a regular pencil and mixed media paper. Or grab crayons or markers, scrap paper, or whatever you have on hand.
- Grid paper or a ruler can help you create straight lines, but don’t worry too much about that. Art isn’t about being perfect, it’s about having fun making something new!
- Tracing is a good way to learn. For young kids, it may be helpful for an adult to draw a spider web that the child can trace to practice.

Spider web drawing
1. Draw a +.
Start by drawing a large plus sign with 2 perpendicular lines. They should be about the same size.

2. Draw an x.
Next, draw a large X over the plus sign shape. All the lines should be evenly spaced, so you have 8 lines total that meet in the middle.

3. Draw the swoops.
Now that you have the basic lines, add a curved swoop to connect the long lines. Choose any starting place. Add more swoops going around the spider web until you circle back to meet the first one.

Leave a bit of space and draw another series of swoops going around the web again. Repeat until you have enough to fill in the web.

4. Add a spider.
Finally, add a spider to the web. Draw a small circle and fill it in. Add 8 tiny lines for legs – 4 on each side.

Corner web variation
To draw a spider web in a corner, follow the same basic steps. First, draw a few long lines out from the corner. Then add the swoops between the long lines.
Don’t forget to add a friendly spider hanging from the corner.

Now that you’ve learned how to draw a spider web, add them to all your drawings! Whether you’re drawing a house or a farm or a nature scene, a little spider hiding in the corner is a fun detail.
Remember, real spider webs aren’t perfect. They might be bigger on one side, have lots of swoops, or have an odd shape to fit the space where the spider is hunting!
